I'm looking for touristy advice.

If you had friends/family in from out of town, where would you take them?
What would you show them? What would they see that is quintessentially Rochester?

Thanks.

Artisan Works on University. It's one of the most unique gallery/studio settings in the country, and in my opinion, Rochesters greatest hidden treasure. www.artisanworks.net/

Strong Museum of Play - it's not just for kids! I haven't been to the butterfly exhibit yet...I'm saving it for an out of town visitor :-)

The Public Market. Our farmers market is something to be proud of. You'd be amazed how many people have never seen an open air market the size of ours. Bring the family to the market and get fixins for a fabulous outdoor cookout, then go to Durand Eastman Park, up by the lake, and enjoy the day!

See the mother lode of such recommendations at ROCwiki.org/RocWiki_Tourists_Guide

Also, if you disagree with it, then edit it, especially the reference back to Tribe. Despite the architecture for reviews remaining in place, hopes Tribe could become a place for local reviews seems to have dissolved.

At least the comments made on Tribe about local stuff are from better sources than the Wiki. I've seen reviews on Wiki that promted me to check things out, and then made me wonder who in the hell is providing the reviews! Certainly not people with my taste.

I'm okay with Tribe being a limited audience... quality, not quantity I always say :-)

ALWAYS take em to the Dinosaur BBQ...!! mmm... I'm hungry right just thinkin bout 'em... they also usually have live music Thursday through Sunday nights, if not all week... yay!

Also the Sunken Garden on South Ave @ the Warner's Castle... very beautiful spot... on the corner of South Ave and Reservoir Rd. (just a hop from Highland Park)...

Park Ave. is a lovely little stroll with little shops and eateries... esp the Chocolate shop... mmmm... can you tell I'm hungry?! :D
